Three years after Hurricane Katrina devistated New Orleans and the Central Gulf Coast, residents packed up once again and left as Gustov approached. Although Destin was under a tropical storm warning, it was safe bet for most families who thought they could make a vacation out of an evacuation.
Because all Candlewood Suites hotels are pet friendly, it was a popular choice and allowed families to stay together during these rough times. Not to mention, our full kitchens provided the family style dining atmosphere in which most evacuees preferred.
Our staff worked very hard to make all of our guests feel relaxed and comfortable. It's never easy to leave something behind that your family worked so hard to achieve. We want to wish all of our evacuees good luck on their return home!
